Today is May 29th and Joe, Yue May , Kee How Alexander and I are still at the penangpac office, with the BROKEN BRIDGES crew still at STAGE 1 putting on the finishing touches before the tech session tomorrow. We came up to Penang on Monday, 27th. While we were driving up, I received a text message from Kelvin, one of Feroz's dear friends - this was his message - I had a dream of Feroz. We were partying in a hse when he appeared n spooked us. He was at a distance n couldn't come near us coz a fence separated us but he was visible. So I went to him n gave a high five n asked him what was it like in the afterworld n he replied that it was truly beautiful - I burst into tears of joy and sadness. unbeknown to Joe.

7th May Election over just 2 days ago. My index fingure is still bluish - I want to keep it that way for as long as it takes, to remind me of the fun I had that day at the polling station, the same polling station I went to with Feroz - this time he was there with me in spirit! He loves the politics of this country, so do I. I picked it up from my parents who introduced UMNO to us growing up in Kampong Baru, Penang. Those days were really fun complete with entertainment whenever meetings were held. My mother, father and eldest sister Zurina were UMNO stalwarts. After 57 years, there's bound to be changes, people change, education I believe is the main cause - and we have given Barisan another 5 years to make good. This 1 Malaysia thingy - it's just words - what's the true meaning behind it. A while ago we did not have those words but we live in harmony, visiting one another's homes is the surest way to harmonise - all that has gone. And just today I received a request for financial support for the poor Melayu in a persatuan - DBKL to be exact - what about the poor Malaysians? Do they have other persatuans looking after them - is this the true meaning of 1 Malaysia? I don't think so. Until and unless we can look at each other as Malaysian brothers and sisters, we are not 1. It does not Einstein to work this out - just reflect. If we continually hate, dislike, distrust one another, we can't unite this country - we'll be forever Malays, Chinese Indians, Kadazans, Ibans, dan lain lain.
I just saw the beautiful back drop of 'BROKEN BRIDGES' painted by David Wong - stunning!!
We open in 9 days! Come and share this story of 2 friends from Ipoh and what progress does to some!

Thank you for supporting Malaysian Theatre.
